ANNONS

A jury in the United States has convicted two men from Romania of spreading malware with the aim of mining cryptocurrencies on other peoples computers, so-called “cryptojacking”. This according to a press release from the US Department of Justice.

The malware reportedly was spread via e-mail from addresses that were posing as legitimate companies such as Western Union, Norton Antivirus and Internal Revenue Service. The recipients who clicked on the attached file then got their computer or cell phone infected with the malicious software.

The case was investigated by both the American FBI and the Romanian police. The sentence for the two Romanians is expected to be announced on August 14 this year by a court in Ohio, Cointelegraph reports.
