During a conference for students on Saturday, the chairman of the Russian central bank, Elvira Nabiullina, said that the country is considering starting its own cryptocurrency.
“This will not happen now, but many central banks, including ours, are thinking about it”, she says according to tass.ru.
Must be stable
Elvira Nabiullina believes that the key for a Russian cryptocurrency to become a reality is that the technology is “stable” and “reliable”.
This is not the first time the Russian central bank talks about the possibilities of cryptocurrency. Last month, Elvira Nabiullina said that they were considering starting a cryptocurrency based on gold in order to avoid US sanctions, according to Coindesk.
The question is whether Putin, who is known for riding bears, can consider getting on the recent the cryptocurrency bull ride instead.
