Fraudsters bring in significantly more money than hackers when it comes to crypto-related crime.

ANNONS

Trijo News has previously reported on several cases where hackers stole money from crypto exchanges.

Now the analysis company Ciphertrace has released a report that shows that the total amount stolen in cryptocurrencies is really large. But it is not the attacks on the crypto exchanges that are most lucrative for the thieves, Cointelegraph reports.

Fraud dominates

In total, cryptocurrencies worth $4.3 billion has been stolen in 2019.

Of these, only the equivalent of $480 million has been stolen in hacker attacks against crypto exchanges. Instead, most of the money has been stolen through fraud, Cointelegraph reports.

Earlier, Trijo News has written about how fraudsters have tried to deceive people by saying that they are the crypto personality John McAfee. You can read about that here.
