Litecoin rallies over 10 percent after announcement about a new cooperation

The crypto markets have soared in the last 24 hours. At the moment, around 80 of the 100 biggest cryptocurrencies show green numbers.

The market cap of all cryptocurrencies has also risen over the last 24 hours – from $112 billion yesterday to $113 billion today.

That is a $1 billion rise.

Litecoin rallies

Of the biggest cryptocurrencies, litecoin (+10,04%) has increased most in the last 24 hours. The currency has actually increased so much that it is now the fourth biggest.

The increase for litecoin comes after the team behind beam, a Mimblewimble-based “privacy coin”, on Thursday announced that they have been contacted by the Litecoin Foundation about a possible collaboration to implement Mimblewimble on the litecoin network.

Mimblewimble is a kind of technology that stops blockchains from revealing private information.

Also, litecoin’s creator Charlie Lee has confirmed on Twitter that they both have had conversations:

Team has been chatting with the @vcorem and @beamprivacy team about MimbleWimble on Litecoin with Extension Blks. Pleasantly surprised that Beam has already implemented switch-commitments w/ ElGamal. It's a safety switch to protect against quantum computing breaking CT soundness.

Green numbers

If we look at the other big cryptocurrencies, ethereum (+1,99%), eos (+1,70%), xrp (+1,24%) and bitcoin (+0,30%) all show green numbers in the last 24 hours.

The world’s biggest cryptocurrency bitcoin is currently trading at 4,431, which is around $10 higher than yesterday.

The cryptocurrencies on top 100 that performed the best during the last 24 hours were quant (+37,90%) and hypercash (+30,71%), and the ones that performed the worst were bytecoin (-3,39%) och holo (-3,28%).
