The new smartphone will focus on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
Last year, Taiwanese electronics giant HTC launched its first blockchain phone “Exodus 1”. The company is now planning to release the second-generation blockchain smartphone in the second half of 2019. This was revealed by Chen Xinsheng, COO at HTC, during the recent International Distributed Application Forum, Gizchina reports.
At present, there are no details about the new smartphone from HTC, but according to Xinsheng, it will expand the scope of digital asset management.
The goal is to provide users with a safe environment. The phone will, therefore, use a security module that is independent of Android’s own system. This module, which seems to be similar to a so-called “cold storage”, can be used to securely store cryptocurrencies and private data, Gizchina reports.
HTC recently announced that they collaborate with the newly started blockchain fund Proof of capital, which may indicate that the company has ambitions to develop within the blockchain space.
