The conference kickstarted with a hackathon in which teams were challenged to develop real-world solutions on specific topics. The second challenge focused on scaling the consumer DApp, bringing cryptocurrency to 1,000,000 on-chain users, while the final challenge required participants to leverage XRPL tech and find decentralized solutions for specific problems.
On March 20, a talent fair was conducted where major firms had the opportunity to recruit young and talented professionals. Additionally, a start-up event aimed to fund three web3 projects, while Investor Day facilitated collaboration between start-ups and leaders in the web3 sector.
Key Notes
In addition to the main conference, PBW organized a Web3XP conference that explored the latest advancements in the Web3 industry. Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company Eric Hazan delivered a keynote speech on creating value in the metaverse, while other notable speakers included Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit, who spoke on the rise of blockchain, and Alice Liu, Research Lead at CoinMarketCap, who discussed the crypto market.
PBW also hosted panel discussions on “What’s needed to restart NFTs?” and on interoperability in metaverse gaming featuring American author and founder of metaverse project Lamina1 Neal Stephenson and Paris Blockchain Week chairman Michael Amar.
Richard Muirhead, co-founder of Fabric Ventures, spoke about inflation, Bitcoin price and the emergence of Web3. He suggested that Bitcoin is the first use case of Web3 and could act as a haven with deflationary properties. He also emphasized that Web3 is addressing traditional financial problems while generating new use cases that go beyond software development.
After a successful week of events and discussions, PBW’s closing tweet encouraged attendees to return next year for an even stronger, bigger, and better event, signalling a farewell for the current year.
