A 33-year-old Danish man has been sentenced to four years in jail for fencing and money laundering with the help of bitcoin.
A 33-year-old Danish man has been sentenced to four years and three months in jail for money laundering and fencing with the help of the cryptocurrency bitcoin.
The man has, according to the verdict, received big sums of money that he knew came from criminal activity, bought bitcoin and then sent them to foreign accounts. During the trial, the man admitted to the crime.

Police officer Troels Jul Kjærgaard from the Nordjylland police force says in a press release that this proves that the Danish police has the competence required to uphold the law even on the internet.

The police first learned about the crime in conjunction with investigating a 44-year-old man for extortion, according to Danish TV2.
