There are once again happening things around the erratic cybersecurity pioneer and ICO promoter John McAfee. Now he has announced his intentions to release a physical cryptocurrency called the “McAfee redemption unit” (MRU).
The cryptocurrency consists of actual physical notes with images on. The motifs represent, besides John McAfee himself, several famous faces from the crypto world, like Jihan Wu, Brock Pierce, and Roger Ver. However, it is unclear if they have given their consent to this. Each MRU will be worth $9.95 and can be redeemed for a personal meeting with McAfee, CCN reports.
But not enough with this. McAfee has also announced that he will run for president in the US in 2020. On Twitter, he writes that his goal is to “serve the crypto community by providing the ultimate campaign platform”.
Japan’s first crypto exchange, which has a bank behind it, has now been launched. It is the financial giant SBI Holdings who has launched its own in-house cryptocurrency exchange, Coindesk writes.

On May 30, the country’s congress unanimously supported a draft legislation that would favorably regulate cryptocurrencies and blockchain in the country. However, things may be delayed due to EU compliance laws and political unrest in the country, Cointelegraph reports.
