Despite some bad news, the world's largest cryptocurrency bitcoin defends key support.
On Thursday, Trijo News reported that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) denied applications from the companies Proshares, Direxion and Graniteshares regarding nine bitcoin ETFs.
Now, the SEC has announced that senior officials also will review the applications. When this will be completed is, however, still unclear, Coindesk reports.
Looking at the prices, bitcoin (+1,45%) seems to be holding on quite good. Right now, the cryptocurrency is trading around $6,500 despite some bad news.
In addition to the fact that the SEC rejected the applications for bitcoin ETFs, it became known recently that China, one of the world’s biggest places of demand for cryptocurrencies, plans to block access to over 100 different crypto exchanges around the world.
Also, bitcoin cash (+1,58%) and eos (+3,14%) have performed well during the last 24 hours. The total market cap of all cryptocurrencies is currently at the highest levels for the past 24 hours.
The cryptocurrencies on top 100 that performed the best were theta token (+52,21%) and cybermiles (+37,00%), and the ones that performed the worst were aurora (–5,17%) and rchain (–3,99%).
