On Sunday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued an order seeking to temporarily suspend trading with two crypto certificates – exchange-traded notes (ETNs) – issued by the Swedish company XBT Provider.
The certificates have been traded on the Stockholm stock exchange for several years and were introduced in the US in mid-August.
The reason for the suspension is a “confusion amongst market participants” in the United States regarding the nature of the financial instruments. According to the SEC, trading in the XBT certificates on the Stockholm stock exchange will not be affected, Coindesk reports.
