After almost a week, the eos blockchain is up and running after more than 15 percent of the voters voted for an activation. Furthermore, Steve Bannon has spoken positively about cryptocurrencies.
The eos blockchain is finally active after almost a week since the launch votation. At the time of writing, over 17 percent of the token owners have voted for activation (the minimum requirement was 15 percent). This means that the 21 block producers who are to be in charge of the transactions on the platform now are elected, Coindesk reports.
Steve Bannon, former chief strategist for US president Donald Trump, believes in bitcoin. He thinks that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies constitute the start of a financial revolution, and that it may be as disruptive for banks as Mr. Trump has been for politics in the US.
“It’s disruptive populism. It takes control back from central authorities. It’s revolutionary,” Steve Bannon says in an interview for The New York Times.
“Central to determining whether a security is being sold is how it is being sold”
As Trijo News could report yesterday, SEC (The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) has announced that they do not consider cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ethereum as securities.
Many ICOs will, however, come to be regulated in the future.
“Central to determining whether a security is being sold is how it is being sold and the reasonable expectations of purchasers,” William Hinman, head of the Division of Corporation Finance at the SEC, said in a speech at the Yahoo All Markets Summit, according to CNBC.
After the SEC announcement and the news about eos now being active, several of the major cryptocurrencies have seen gains the last 24 hours.
Both eos (+6,15%) as well as ethereum (+4,60%) are up several percentage points.
Best of all were bitcoin private (+13,79%) and basic attention token (+10,47%), whereas waykichain (-17,10%) and all sports (-7,04%) saw the roughest development, according to Coinmarketcap.
