Daily crypto: Alibaba files for blockchain patents and monero rallies

Chinese multinational holding conglomerate Alibaba Group filed for more than ten percent of all blockchain patents during 2017. Of a total of 406 blockchain patent applications worldwide last year, Alibaba accounted for 43 of them, Nikkei Asian Review reports.

The fact that famous people in the financial world or crypto experts comment on bitcoin and its price is nothing new. Now, another such statement has come, this time from Hermann Finnbjornsson, founder and CEO of the crypto asset analytics firm Svandis. He believes that the bitcoin price easily can reach $10,000 by the first week of November.

“There’s less than a one percent chance in my mind that bitcoin won’t succeed. I think that there are a lot of reasons to be bullish on bitcoin. Banks are getting into bitcoin”, says Hermann Finnbjornsson to the financial news site The Street, according to Ethereum World News.

Monero increases over ten percent

Among the biggest cryptocurrencies, only bitcoin (+0,53%) has increased in value over the last 24 hours. Both xrp (–1,14%) and ethereum (–1,32%) have lost over one percent each.

Last week, Trijo News wrote about a report from the New York-based analysis company Satis Group. In the report, they were very positive to the anonymity-focused cryptocurrency monero (+11,36%) and wrote, among other things, that the cryptocurrency in five years would be worth over $18,000. Since then, the monero price has soared. Just during the last 24 hours, the price has increased over ten percent.

The cryptocurrencies on top 100 that performed the best during the last 24 hours were bitcoindark (+350,99%) and holo (+19,38%). In the case of bitcoindark, however, the trading volume was only just over one million dollars. The cryptocurrencies that performed the worst were moac (–13,59%) and bitcoin private (–10,05%).
