The crypto news site CCN is shutting down its business, according to a text from founder Jonas Borchgrevink published on the site during Monday.
The reason for the shut down is said to be Google’s new update which was rolled out on June 3.
“CCN’s traffic from Google searches dropped more than 71 percent on mobile overnight”, Borchgrevink writes on the site.
Been around for six years
CCN, which was founded in Norway in 2013 as “CryptoCoinsNews” by the Norwegian entrepreneur Jonas Borchgrevink, has according to themselves been the crypto news site with the highest amount of traffic in the world.
However, the loss of 71 percent of the Google searches on mobile hit the remaining operations too hard. Now, an international editorial team of over 60 people is affected.
“Six years of work is evaporated”
“Six years of work is evaporated”, writes Jonas Borchgrevink and finishes his text by thanking both readers and competitors.
Borchgrevink also lists a couple of demands aimed at Google to be more transparent and open with information about updates that can affect many news sites.
