If we look at the biggest cryptocurrencies, ethereum is the one that has increased the most during the last 24 hours.
It has been a good last 24 hours for the world’s crypto markets. At present, around 90 of the 100 biggest cryptocurrencies show green numbers.
The market cap for all cryptocurrencies has also risen over the last 24 hours – from $119 billion yesterday to $123 billion today.
That is a $4 billion rise.
If we look at the biggest cryptocurrencies, ethereum (+8,56%) is the one that has increased the most during the last 24 hours.
Exactly what the increase is due to is as usual difficult to say, but it may have to do with the upcoming “fork” (when a cryptocurrency divides or is updated) which is named Constantinople and which is expected to occur on Wednesday, January 16th.
The update has been the most awaited one in the ethereum community as it prepares for other major upgrades like Casper and Sharding, AMB Crypto writes.
Also, eos (+5,43%), bitcoin cash (+4,24%), bitcoin (+2,86%) and xrp (+2,06%) have gone up in price.
Bitcoin is currently trading at $3,692, which is around $109 higher than yesterday.
The cryptocurrencies on top 100 that performed the best during the last 24 hours were augur (+26,94%) and quarkchain (+20,10%), and the ones that performed the worst were optimal shelf availability token (-6,34%) and waves (-2,78%).
