The American crypto exchange Coinbase has added the cryptocurrency eos, according to a press release.
Since April, users have been able to buy eos on Coinbase Pro, the part of the crypto exchange specifically designed for traders, but now the cryptocurrency is also added to the Coinbase main platform.
Eos will be available immediately for trading and storage in most markets where Coinbase operates, with the exception of the UK and New York.
The world’s fifth biggest cryptocurrency
Eos is ranked as the world’s fifth-biggest cryptocurrency and has a market cap of nearly $7 billion, according to Coinmarketcap.
Eos is the latest big cryptocurrency added to Coinbase. In February, the crypto exchange added the company Ripple’s cryptocurrency XRP. Recently, a couple of so-called stablecoins were also added: dai and USD coin.
Eos is a cryptocurrency created for decentralized applications. No fee is charged for sending eos. Instead, the cryptocurrency is driven by the protocol using computer power and network bandwidth. Those who run the network are also rewarded with new units of the cryptocurrency, according to the press release from Coinbase.
