On Friday, the bitcoin price made a jump.
Late on Friday night (CEST), the bitcoin price took off. From having been traded around $8,200 earlier in the day, the price soared several hundred dollars in a short time – and topped out at $8,780 during Saturday morning, according to numbers from Bitstamp.
This is an increase of seven percent and the highest price since the beginning of June.
Since the peak level, however, the price has dropped slightly and a bitcoin is currently trading at around $8,650.
Now many wonder if the bitcoin price can continue to $9,000 over the weekend.
Bitcoin’s total market cap is currently $154 billion. The world’s biggest cryptocurrency also currently represents 56.5 percent of the total market cap of all cryptocurrencies, according to Coinmarketcap.
