In recent months, Coinbase has lost several big names in management. Some who have left are Tim Plakas, head of OTC trading, who went to Michael Novogratz’s crypto bank Galaxy Digital.
Also, Mikheil Moucharrafie and Jeff Cartwright, who both worked with “compliance” (the one who works to ensure that a company’s activities comply with the current laws and regulations), have left and gone to Facebook. In May, the company’s chief technology officer Balaji Srinivasan also left.
Now, it has become known that Asiff Hirji, chief operating officer at Coinbase, is leaving the company, Bloomberg reports.
Came to Coinbase in 2017
Asiff Hirji came to the San Francisco-based crypto exchange in December 2017 when the prices of cryptocurrencies were at a record level. He reportedly played an important role in helping the company through the turbulent time and also taking Coinbase to international markets.
Emilie Choi, who has a background on, among other things, Yahoo and Linkedin but who worked as vice president of business at Coinbase for a while, takes over the role of chief operating officer, Bloomberg reports.
