While the social media giant Facebook looks at the possibilities of launching its own cryptocurrency, another crypto actor is entering the social media world.
During an event in Washington, D.C. in the US recently, Block.one, the company behind the cryptocurrency eos, said they intend to launch their own social media platform that will run on the eos blockchain, Coindesk writes.
According to Brendan Blumer, CEO of Block.one, there will not be an algorithm that will control what the users see, but rather everyone will have an equal shot to be seen.
“Social media has not been a good friend to us”, he said during the event.
Will not turn users into products
The platform has been named Voice and according to Block.one, it will stand out in such a way that it will not turn its users into products.
“Our content. Our data. Our attention. These are all incredibly valuable things. But right now, it’s the platform, not the user, that reaps the reward. By design, they run by auctioning our information to advertisers, pocketing the profit, and flooding our feeds with hidden agendas dictated by the highest bidder. Voice changes that”, said Brendan Blumer, according to Coindesk.
